Women In Construction

At Niblock, we are passionate about diversifying the workforce and tackling the wider under representation of women in trades apprenticeships. As such, we have been working to attract more women into our apprenticeship program and break down the stereotype that apprenticeships are predominantly for men.

Women in Contruction Week, 2nd-8th March 2025, presents the ideal opportunity to highlight one of our fantastic apprentices, Maddie, who is currently undertaking an 4-year apprenticeship with Niblock Electrical. She was pleased to provide us with feedback on her apprenticeship to encourage more women to take up similar opportunities.

“I am currently a first-year apprentice at Niblock and have been working at the IMO and on multiple social housing and lighting projects. I have particularly enjoyed learning about upgrading fuse boards and I am looking forward to improving my skills on containment. In the future, I aim to achieve my NVQ Level 3 qualification.
Whilst being in a largely male-dominated industry, I have really enjoyed working with such a supportive team and hope that other women will join me in breaking the stereotype and apply for an electrical apprenticeship.” Maddie Pinn

IWD 2025

We are celebrating the incredible women within the Niblock team for International Women’s Day 2025!

In an industry that is more widely dominated by men, we are exceptionally proud of the women in our team forging careers in construction and changing the landscape of the industry for generations to come.

Denim for Dementia

The Niblock head office team showed up in their denims today for our annual Denim for Dementia event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The donations will directly help the Charity with their research into the cause, cure and prevention of Dementia and fund vital support for the families and invididuals affected.

London South Bank University Talk

Last week, we were pleased to return to London South Bank University with Baily Garner LLP to carry out another talk on our Passivhaus Retrofit project for the London Borough of Lambeth aligning with their ambitious ‘Climate Action Plan’, which aims for a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030.

Our lecture provided a detailed overview of the project at 24-26 Bloomhall Road, the programme and the innovative retrofit technologies utilised.
It was an excellent opportunity to highlight the collective expertise powering the project, with contributions from Benjamin N. from Baily Garner and Jodie Pitt and Paul Rayment from Niblock, and we were thrilled with the high level of engagement from those attending the lecture.

London South East Colleges

We were pleased to return to London South East Colleges today as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 and to provide Level 1 and 2 Electrical Students with more information on the apprenticeships available at Niblock Electrical Services. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with prospective apprentices and to discuss opportunities within the electrical industry.

Thank you London South East Colleges for welcoming us back to meet with the next generation of skilled professionals!

National Apprenticeship Week

With National Apprenticeship Week 2025 underway, we are proud to shine a spotlight on our fantastic apprentices who are developing the skills needed to power the future.

At Niblock Electrical Services, we are committed to investing in the next generation of electricians. Each year, we offer two electrical apprenticeships, and we are proud to say that over the past six years, 100% of our apprentices have successfully achieved their NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.

We provide all elements of the NVQ Level 3 qualification in-house, ensuring our apprentices receive comprehensive training, regular reviews, and tailored mentoring to support their development.

But our commitment doesn’t stop at qualification. Upon completion of their apprenticeship, we continue to invest in our team with further training and upskilling opportunities, including:
✅ 2391 Test & Inspection
✅ Solar PV installation
✅ EV charging courses

With the ongoing skills shortage in the electrical industry, we believe it is our responsibility to help bridge the gap by nurturing new talent and shaping the future workforce.

World Mental Health Day 2024

World Mental Health Day 2024

We are pleased to launch our new Mental Health & Wellbeing Focus today across Niblock Builders and Niblock Electrical Services to ensure we are providing a positive working environment for all employees, whilst raising awareness of mental health issues, tackling the stigma of poor mental health and improving positive mental wellbeing among our workforce and the wider construction industry.

As such, we have introduced Niblock Mental Health Ambassadors within the business, organised mental health awareness training for Management and through our renewed membership with Mates in Mind, have ensured all employees are aware of the support services available to them, including access to qualified counsellors.

We are adopting a joined-up approach with the Charity to ensure we are providing sufficient mental health support services for anyone already struggling, whilst actively working to promote a positive culture within the workplace where our team members feel able to talk openly and are provided with the skills and confidence to support anyone experiencing mental health issues.
